Trained at the Conservatory of Chatou, then at the Cours Florent, and at the Conservatory in the 10th arrondissement of Paris, Maëlle Genet then went to New York and Los Angeles to live, study and work. There she appeared in several short films and perfomed in two plays, one of them off-off Broadway and the other in Los Angeles.

Back in Paris, she was assistant director at the Théâtre de la Madeleine on the play Étoiles by Pierre Laville, with Niels Arestrup, Maurice Bénichou and Nada Strancar.

She also appeared in several TV series and television movies, working with directors such as Arnaud Sélignac. She’s appeared in short films and played roles in classic stage plays, like Agnès in The School of Wifes (Molière) and Junie in Britannicus (Racine), as well as the original Cory in Steven Dietz’ Private Eyes with the compagnie Hercub’. The production was sold out two years in a row at the Théâtre du Balcon in Avignon, and all over France and Belgium during two years.

She keeps training regularly in Paris, doing workshops, lots of them in English, with Jordan Beswick, Elise McLeod and Sabine Crossen.

In 2009, she translated Neil LaBute’s play Fat Pig, and mounted the show with Thierry Lavat as the director at the Théâtre de Poche in Brussels. She played the part of Jeannie appearing with Itsik Elbaz, Valérie Moreau and Alexandre Crepet. The play was sold out its entire run.

After Fat Pig, she translated two other plays from English to French, which enabled her to meet lots of people, such as Daniel Colas, who invited her to be his assistant on the wonderful play Henri IV le bien aimé, a challenge with 18 actors in period costume. She also understudied for the role of Gabrielle d’Estrée, appearing several times with Jean-François Balmer and Béatrice Agenin, among others. The play was nominated 5 times for the Molières Awards, including Best Show, winning for Best Costumes.

She was assistant director once again with Daniel Colas on the play Hollywood at the Théâtre Antoine with Daniel Russo, Samuel Lebihan, and Thierry Frémont, who was replaced by Dominique Pinon for a time.

She appeared in several TV series, such as Tandem, Les Bracelets rouges, Platane and Vernon Subutex for Canal+. She had the pleasure to work several times with Eric Judor. She had a very nice supporting role in the feature Une belle équipe by Mohamed Hamidi, in which she played Kad Merad’s love interest, appearing with Laure Calamy, Céline Salette, Guillaume Gouix, Alban Ivanov, André Wilms and many others.

In 2021, she was thrilled to work with the American director Ellie Foumbi in her first feature Our Father, the Devil. She also translated the script into French. She presented the film with the crew at the 78th Venise International Film Festival as part of the Biennale College Cinema. The film has been selected in different festivals and received several awards (24), among them the Audience Award at The Tribeca Film Festival. The film was nominated for Best Feature at the Independent Spirit Awards 2023.

She recently appeared in several tv series : Bellefond next to Stephane Bern, Alexandra Ehle next to Julie Depardieu and The Madame Blanc Mysteries next to Sally Lindsay, Steve Edge, Alex Gaumond and many others.

In her free time, she paints and dances Argentine Tango and Lindy Hop.
